A major feature of ADEPT’s year-long course is its “overseas training,” which brings participants into direct contact with the world’s most advanced dental clinical practice and academic networks. As its second installment, participants will travel to New York for about one week from late November to early December 2026. It is a special program in which, in addition to attending the New York Dental Meeting — one of the largest conferences in the world — participants experience Dr. Okazaki’s lectures at both NYU and Touro University up close.

The program’s three pillars

① Dr. Okazaki’s lectures and facility tours at both universities — NYU & Touro University

Dr. Okazaki will give lectures at both New York University (NYU) and Touro University. For participants, seeing the very instructor who teaches them in the seminar take the stage and flourish on the world stage of dental education is an inspiration above all else. In addition, at the NYU College of Dentistry, Dr. Okazaki will personally guide participants through the clinic of the postgraduate endodontics (specialty) program, and at Touro University, participants will tour advanced on-campus facilities where Dr. Okazaki’s own mentees are enrolled.

② One of the world’s largest dental shows — the New York Dental Meeting

Participants will attend the New York Dental Meeting, one of the largest conferences in the world. At the venue, they can experience cutting-edge technology firsthand, including demonstrations of the latest endodontic equipment developed by Dr. Buchanan.

③ Factory visit to Laschal, a premium surgical-instrument manufacturer (planned)

A factory visit to Laschal — a premium surgical-instrument manufacturer based in New York — is planned. It is a valuable opportunity to experience the craftsmanship and cutting-edge thinking behind instrument design.

Outline of the one-week schedule

  • Fri, Nov 27 — Arrival in New York; welcome dinner

  • Sat, Nov 28 — Conference registration & a Manhattan cultural experience (including a Broadway show)

  • Sun, Nov 29 — New York Dental Meeting attendance & networking reception

  • Mon, Nov 30 – Wed, Dec 2 — Visits to NYU and Touro University, lectures, the dental show, and the Laschal visit

  • Thu, Dec 3 — Final day

What this means for participants

Experiencing, in the same space, the sight of your seminar instructor active on the world stage greatly heightens participants’ own desire to “keep learning.” Placing oneself at the forefront of clinical dentistry and scholarship brings a fresh perspective to daily practice and to one’s future career, and becomes a driving force for self-directed learning. Through this kind of “learning that connects with the global standard,” ADEPT supports the growth of each and every participant.

This article introduces a special program for participants of the current term (the 2027 course). Details of the schedule and destinations are communicated as they are confirmed or updated.
